Bands for Charity
Fundraising terms & fees
These terms add to the No Cover Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Who receives donations
- On a campaign for the organizer's own cause, every donation goes to the organizer — the band, venue, business or person who started it — through their own Stripe account.
- On a charity campaign, every donation goes directly to the charity through the charity's own Stripe account. Only charities No Cover has verified can be chosen.
- No Cover does not hold campaign funds. Recipients keep what is raised even if a campaign doesn't reach its goal, and organizers are responsible for describing the campaign accurately.
In Tune Foundation share
- 10% of each donation is designated for In Tune Foundation, which helps musicians with medical bills. No Cover may set a different share for a campaign when it approves it; the campaign's share is always shown on its page and before you pay.
- The share is a percentage of each gross donation. A donation keeps the share in effect when it was made, even if the campaign's share changes later.
- Designated amounts are reported to the foundation as donations come in and are marked as paid only once the foundation has actually received them.
Fees
- No Cover's platform fee is 5% of each donation. A campaign keeps the fee in effect when it was approved.
- Card processing of 2.9% + 30¢ per donation is deducted from what the organizer receives.
- Every campaign's breakdown is shown on its page and before you pay.
- Donations can be from $5 to $10,000.
Thank-you gifts
- Organizers can offer gifts for donations of a set amount: a thank-you, an item they mail you, or a free ticket to one of their shows. The organizer is responsible for delivering their gifts.
- For an item, your mailing address is shared only with the organizer, to send it. A ticket gift goes straight into your No Cover account, so it needs one.
- If a donation with a gift is refunded, the gift is cancelled — including a ticket it gave.
Shows that give back
- A band or venue can give part of every ticket to one of its shows to its campaign — a percentage of the ticket price or a set amount per ticket, shown on the event page.
- That part goes to the campaign like a donation, with In Tune Foundation's share. No platform fee or card processing comes off it; the ticket already paid those. If a ticket is refunded, its part comes back out of the campaign.
Taxes
- Donations to an organizer's own cause are not tax-deductible. They are gifts to the organizer, not contributions to a registered charity.
- Donations on a charity campaign are paid directly to that charity. Whether a gift is deductible depends on the charity and your situation — ask the charity for a receipt. No Cover does not issue tax receipts.
- Organizers may owe tax on what they raise for themselves. Stripe provides tax forms to account holders where required.
Refunds and disputes
- Refund requests are reviewed by No Cover case by case. An approved refund goes back to the original card, and the organizer's and the foundation's shares of it are returned.
- Contact No Cover through the help center about a donation or a campaign you're concerned about. Campaigns can be paused while No Cover looks into a report.
Campaign review
- Every campaign is reviewed before it goes live. No Cover may decline, pause or end a campaign that is misleading, unlawful or outside the music community.
- Organizers must be able to use the funds as described and must not misrepresent who benefits.
