SILVERSTEIN

Introducing Silverstein (for those who don’t know) a Pop punk, emo, post hard core, rock band that hails from Burlington, Ontario Canada. Their lineup had remained unchanged for eleven years since December 2001, consisting of lead vocalist Shane Told, lead guitarist Neil Boshart, rhythm guitarist Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler. Their band name is a reference to the famous children’s author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and whose work they had read as children and author of one of my favorite books “The Giving Tree”. Silverstein has been a staple in the music industry for over 22 years producing over 10 albums in that time frame. Well Silverstein is back with a new album “Misery Made Me” due out May 6th, 2022.

“I am stoked man; I think there is a lot of interesting stuff for our fans both old and new to really get into. If I were to compare it to the last album, I think there are a lot more dynamics. There are a lot of ups and downs on this album, a rollercoaster ride of an album if you will. Which I am a big fan of, and I couldn’t be more stoked to have this out in the world. I think this album is special. It has some of the best songs we’ve ever written, some of the heaviest songs we’ve written, some of the catchiest songs we’ve written, and it’s truly a great mix.” says Shane Told

I have been a Silverstein fan since 2004 when I picked up a Victory Records compilation CD, back in the days we didn’t have the internet readily available like we do now. So, to discover new bands we bought compilation albums, and that is how I fell in love with Silverstein. I went out and bought their Album “When being Broken is Easily Fixed” and I remember listening to it over and over again on my drive to Washington. That album without a shadow of a doubt is one of my favorite albums of all time, it was literally one of the only albums that is All Killer no Filler. Great lyrics, amazing hooks and melodies with heavy undertones. The adventure to this album was you didn’t know what was gonna happen next, you didn’t know where they were going to take you. It had ups and downs and it made you feel, especially when you didn’t want to. “Misery Made Me” is the same, a rollercoaster of the unknown and it really made me dust off my old Silverstein records to relive the nostalgia. Now “Misery Made Me” is on my playlist guiding me through a new adventure in life.

“For the first time in our career, we truly put it all out there.  We went into this with no rules and no preconceived notions of what Silverstein is or what it could be.  The results are bold.  We somehow wrote the heaviest, saddest, catchiest, and most emotional songs in 22 years of being a band … all on the same album,” reveals vocalist Shane Told.
